久しぶりに、《英語コーチングクライアントさんの英語奮闘記》です。
長期的な目標のために、英検１級を取得したいと英語コーチングを受講されるクライアントさんが増えています。
初心者向けの英語講座は多くあるけれど、英検１級を一次試験から二次試験まで通してサポートする講座やクラスは、とても少ないそうで、皆さん、検索して私を見つけてくださっています。
英検１級は、受験対策をする中で、英語の４技能（読む、書く、聞く、話す）が総合的に鍛えられるので英語学習の通過点にするのはとてもよいと思っています。英検の中で最も難しい級ですからそう簡単には取れないところもいいですね。実際、英検１級に合格する英語力がつけば、英字新聞を読んだり、大学の講義を聞いて大まかに理解したりはできるようになります。
英検１級を目標とするクライアントさんを見ると、とにかく英語力を引き上げなければいけない人、勉強方法がわからない人、伸び悩んでいる人、何回も落ちて自信を失っている人など様々です。その人の弱点を把握した上で、英語の学習方法をアドバイスするのはもちろん、やる気維持や自信の回復など気持ちの問題にもアプローチしています。
さて、英検１級の一次試験の学習の中で苦労する人が多いのが英作文です。市販の英検１級一次試験の英作文の教材に載っているサンプル英文が高度過ぎて、「こんな英文は絶対書けない！」と思っている人も多いのではないでしょうか？
私の英語コーチングでは、もちろん英作文の対策もします。基本的には、以下の順番でやっています。
１、テーマに対し自分の立場を明確にし、理由を言えるようにする（日本語で）
２、英文エッセイの基本の型を身につける
３、文法のミスの訂正
どこが弱いかはクライアントさんによって違うので、マンツーマンで対応。２に入ったら、身につくまで「書く→私からコメント→書き直し」を何回も繰り返します。
以下は、コーチングクライアンのHさん（東京都）の英作文です。これは、コメント前のものですが、Hさんは数本書いた後、基本の型は身につけたので、文法の小さい間違いが数カ所あるだけです。
そして、Hさんは、これを書いた数週間後に英検１級を受け、英作文で22点を取りました。
いかがでしょうか？とてもシンプルだけれど、論理的な英文ですよね？これでいいんです。これで22点取っていますから。英検１級の英作文で伸び悩んでいる方は、一例として参考にしてください。
Do the benefits of genetically modified crops outweigh the disadvantages?

I believe the benefits of genetically modified crops outweigh the disadvantages. The benefits include creating a positive economic impact, reducing environmental effects because of resistance to disease and pets, and solving world hunger. I will describe these benefits in detail as follows.
First, the positive economic impact is provided because of genetically modified crops. Production of genetically modified crops leads to cost saving for farmers. As a result, the farmers increase their incomes and whereby beneficial economic effects are brought about.
Second, resistance to disease and pets contributes to reduction of environmental effects. In other words, if crops are resistance to disease and pets, farmers do not have to use agricultural chemicals. The chemicals have a bad effect on the environment, and in addition, the farmers save their cost.
Lastly, the modified crops is a key to solving world hunger. We can produce more crops if we use the technique of genetical modification. As described above, the modified crops have resistance to disease and pets and can be grown at severe conditions such as abnormal climate.
It is true that genetical modification of crops may harmfully affect human bodies. However, it has been developed day by day, so we should try this new technology.
